Flash Teaching© is quick real-time, real world learning and is part of a ‘flash curriculum’ in Integrated Care. Flash Teaching started in June 2014 as a change idea to support interdiciplinary teams to improve person-centred care. It was a method of supporting interdisciplinary teams to develop a shared understanding of working in partnership with each other and with people referred for care and to make our work more meaningful. Topics were generated from cases in the Virtual Ward, Community Services Newham, East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) United Kingdom.
Flash Teaching topic headlines were delivered in five minute presentations and then key themes woven into the presentation of cases in the meeting. Articles relating to the topic were circulated before weekly meetings.
Flash Teaching evolved to become a platform to develop dialogue and learning: within ELFT; in other North East London Clinical Commissioning Groups and in a wider thinking community faced with the challenge of integrated caring.
Flash Teaching continued until July 2016 and by this time 74 topics were covered.
